Just for the record, I have yet to read any of the books recommended by the New York Times as the Best Books of 2003 and I probably never will. I was tempted by The Fortress of Solitude and by Khrushchev: The Man and His Era but both books are just so long!
I am afraid I can’t read 800 page books anymore. Not enough energy or time. Instead I am focusing on short biographies/history or readable fiction. If a book is real good I might be able to handle 500 pages tops.
