Well, folks golf season has started and things are starting to heat up a bit. Tiger has already won his first two tourneys (one in Dubai) and a rookie who hits it a mile (J.B. Holmes) has won another. It’s a good thing golf is around too. With a glorious NFL season coming to a close this weekend in Hawaii, I need something else to occupy my sports obsession.
Given that golf is likely to play a part in my weekend TV plans (hopefully I can get back to actually playing golf too when the weather improves) in the coming weeks, I though I would make note of a book I recently finished. I picked up David Feherty’s latest collection of golf magazine and golf.com columns, entitled An Idiot for All Seasons, sometime last year but only just finished it this week.
I enjoy Feherty’s work on CBS but I am conflicted about his writing (see my review of his novel here). You will need two things to enjoy this book: a love of golf and an appreciation for Feherty’s odd sense of humor. I love golf but Feherty’s sense of humor sometimes strikes me as a little over-the-top; sometimes it seems like he is trying too hard to be funny while other times he makes me laugh out load. Not sure what to make of that, but there it is.
So, if you are looking for some light reading to get you ready for golf season or you know someone with a odd, and rather ribald, sense of humor check out An Idiot for All Seasons.
